Service Description
Beginner (No experience required!) - Introduction to piano playing and technique (movement, finger/hand/arm/spine position), music theory (note reading, intro to harmony, musical notation), and musicianship (rhythmic training, ear training) Intermediate (A few years under your belt ~RCM 2-6) - More focussed approach to technique (scales, arpeggios, technical exercises, studies, intro to anatomy, body mapping and Alexander technique), music theory (chords, keys, progressions, basic form, etc.), musicianship (sight reading, sight rhythms, sight singing, ear training). Advanced (A keen interest in classical music ~RCM 7 and up) - Detailed work focussing on specific technical challenges in repertoire (rotation, wrist movements, finger position, efficiency, etc.), music theory and harmony (chord progressions, long forms, phrases, analysis, four-part writing, contemporary styles; serialism/post-tonality/minimalism/extended tonality) and musicianship (sight singing, modulations, two-part rhythms, irregular rhythmic patterns, techniques for understanding rhythm in contemporary styles).
